Entering 2026: A Message from the YÖDAK Council
At a time when higher education worldwide is undergoing a profound transformation and global competition is intensifying, we enter the year 2026 on behalf of the higher education system of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with a strong sense of responsibility, collective wisdom, and a commitment to sustainability.
As the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), our primary priority is the consistent development of a higher education system that is student-centered, quality-driven, transparent, and accountable. We place emphasis not merely on quantitative growth, but on progress grounded in academic quality, scientific output, institutional sustainability, and international trust.
For YÖDAK, 2026 represents a period in which we aim to go beyond supervision alone, approaching quality assurance processes not merely as control mechanisms but as strategic tools that support institutional development. Within this framework, we seek to establish stronger coordination with higher education institutions, more effective monitoring practices, and more constructive feedback mechanisms.
The rapid changes taking place in the international higher education landscape necessitate the development of more careful, holistic, and forward-looking policies in the areas of quality assurance, accreditation, program sustainability, and student well-being. As YÖDAK, we are firmly committed to managing this process together with our universities, based on mutual responsibility and a spirit of cooperation.
On this occasion, YÖDAK extends its best wishes to our higher education institutions, academic and administrative staff, students, and all stakeholders for a successful, productive, and trustworthy year 2026, grounded in collaboration, shared responsibility, and a common vision for the future.
Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK)
